How to Make a "Spread the Word" Banner

Readers who love your blog will promote it for you. Really! Why not make it easy for them with a "Spread the Word" banner like the one on the sidebar?

Step 1: Create a banner and put it online. I use photobucket.com.
Step 2: Click here to get the html code. Copy and paste it into your template/layout where you want the banner.
Step 3: Take out my URL and image location and put in yours.

Voila!

P.S. If you need to make a banner, check out SumoPaint. It's like Photoshop but online. And free.

You make it sound so easy! I think a lot of bloggers need help with that first part "Create a banner" - maybe some basic graphics how-to's could follow in the future. Just wanted to share what I felt the stumbling block was for new bloggers.

That's a valid point, Heather. I've been thinking about how to address it.

Obviously, the blogger needs an image editing or drawing program (Photoshop or Illustrator). They're expensive. Isn't their a Photoshop "light"? Photoshop Elements, I think? It's cheaper. Either way, I consider it a worthwhile investment. Then it's really up to the blogger to get to know the program.

There are many tutorials online, but without taking time to learn Photoshop basics, they won't make much sense.

Just found a cool badge generator that might help folks without the ability to create .jpgs on their own:

Is there a way to do this other than using photobucket? I get too many page loads and exceed my bandwidth to use them.
