Reader Question: Transferring Blog Ownership

Reader Kristen writes:

My friend ... runs [a blog], but she has recently gotten a new job and wanted to know if I'd like to take it over. I would love to! But we don't know where to start on the paperwork, legalities of an ownership transfer. She currently has affiliate ads, etc and all of that would need to now be in my name, as the owner and benefitter from the blog.I can't seem to find any info on the subject out there on the web, maybe it doesn't happen often?

If you have any advice or resources to point us in the right direction, I'd appreciate it!
Kristen's right. Most of the results that turn up with a search are focused on putting a value a blog for sale, finding blogs for sale, and marketing your blog for sale. There's very little about what happens after a transfer of ownership.

I did find a couple of helpful articles. Kristen can find out How to Change and Transfer Blog Ownership @ Tricks for New Bloggers, and she can learn How to Transfer Your Domain Name Ownership to Another Person @ eHow.

Kristen and her friend will need to draw up a contract, transfer domain ownership, and more. Readers? Do you have any advice for Kristen on just how to do that?
