Whew! Have you taken a look at your stats lately? Numbers taking a dive? Don't panic. Chances are, it's nothing you did or didn't do.
Blog traffic naturally dries up a bit in the warm summer months as fewer people are in front of the computer--away on vacation, or just out enjoying the day. Kids are out of school, too, and if your blog's audience consists mostly of parents, your traffic may take a dip because your audience has lost a bit of the "me time" that they enjoy when the kiddos are at school.
As the weather heats up, many folks return to the air-conditioned comfort of indoors, and traffic may pick up a but. Don't expect it to return to normal until school's back in.
My traffic is down by 10% to 20%, and I've definitely seen a decrease in the number of emails I'm getting from readers. I'm using the less-hectic time to work on some more time-intensive projects--research for future posts, PR and marketing, and a few design tweaks.
Of course, some of you travel bloggers and "things to do with the kids" bloggers may get your best traffic during the summer months.
